Best Breed for Children
Dogs are loving, caring, and require lots of care, and in return provide a reciprocal amount of love, devotion, and companionship that is often times difficult to find in the human world. As there are many different breeds and types of dogs that ranges in all different colors, shapes, and sizes, there are also different breeds of dogs that are good for various age groups. As there are some dogs that work better with seniors than others, but sometimes what may seem to be the most challenging is the best breed for children. Unfortunately, all health and animal specialists agree that there is no one dog that should be left with a child unsupervised, as all dogs are not 100% safe around children no matter what breed, size, or age the dog is, all dogs that are interacting with children must be supervised. Furthermore, on the child's perspective, they also must be taught in return their boundaries with the dogs, as they may seem to children as toys of which they could do whatever to. Therefore, as an adult and owner it is your responsibility to be the mediator of all interactions between the dog and the child, and furthermore choose a dog that is better suited for a family like environment.
Breeds that are loving, stable, and have good temperaments are often times the best bet for choosing a dog that must interact with children. Some of our favorite options for dogs that fit these criteria are golden retrievers, beagles, poodles, and cocker spaniels as these dogs exhibit great loyalty and are often extremely gentle and loving towards all people. A general misconception is that all large dogs should be avoided, however, that is entirely false, as golden retrievers are somewhat of a large breed but are much more docile and have an excellent temperament. However, other large dog breeds are relatively difficult to deal with such as Rottweiler's, Dobermans, and Cane Corso's as these specific types of breeds require much training and leadership from their owners than others. One of the most important things to remember with all breeds of dogs, even those who we've mentioned that are excellent when dealing with children, is that all dogs must undergo a socialization process to familiarize themselves with their family and surroundings. The socialization process is key and furthermore is an essential part of socializing all dogs in all different types of scenarios.
