Puppy Flea Protection
Puppies to some of us are cuddle monsters, lounging pets, and indoor creatures that live, breathe, and lay on the same things that we humans do. Therefore, it is important that you keep your puppy healthy and flea free! Fleas are extremely common amongst dogs, as fleas thrive in certain geographic locations, climate, and breeds. Fleas thrive in warm and sunny locations, and unfortunately love the blood of dogs and cats. Fleas have the capabilities of spreading their eggs in a host's skin or fur within 48 hours; therefore it is imperative that all precautionary and preventive measures are taken to reduce the outbreak and initial contact of fleas. Although flees are quite common, they are unfortunately quite difficult to spot and figure out if your dog has fleas. Some noticeable symptoms of your pet having fleas are constant scratching or what may seem to look like small particles of dirt in their fur.
As constant scratching is more noticeable, small particles of feces are difficult to distinguish from dirt. The easiest way to depict if your pet has flea feces is to run water on the particle, if it turns red, than it is feces due to the fact that the red color is dried blood. As gruesome as it may sound, and difficult it may seem to spot out, there are tons of flea protection kits that can help you prevent, protect, and get rid of those nasty fleas.
Products such as Frontline, Advantage, and K9 Advantix are all great products that help reduce the chance of fleas and the reoccurrence of them coming back. Most of the products listed above are the most well-known products that are used to protect against fleas and even ticks or mosquitoes. These product can be used for pets in various ways, as some are sprays, drops, or even tablets that can be used to protect your pet from anywhere between two to four months. These medications are often highly effective, usually stopping the spreading and biting of fleas within five to ten minutes after usage. However, if these products do not seem to be working, cause a negative reaction, or even do not stop fleas from reoccurring again, then it is of the best interest of you to take your pet to the veterinarian, as they may prescribe more potent medication to eliminate the problem with fleas. Whatever the necessary steps may be in removing fleas from your pet, it should be taken, as fleas are not only a nuisance for your pet, but if manifest for a long enough period of time, can prove to be a problem for humans as well.
